Staff Meetings
Weekly staff meetings are
held each Monday at 10:00 am. If you have an item that you would like to bring before the staff, please call
the church office prior to the meeting so your topic may be put on the agenda.

 Dr. John Landon, Senior Pastor
Dr. Landon was born in rural central Michigan.
He attended Taylor University
in Upland, Indiana where he earned his B.A. degree in sociology/social work. He did his theological studies at
Northwestern University
and Christian Theological Seminary.
He obtained a Master of Social Work degree from
Indiana University
and his Ph.D. degree from Ball State University.
He was ordained into the ministry in 1960. Dr. Landon has served churches continuously since that date
and was a full time faculty member at several universities including teaching for nearly thirty years
at the University of Kentucky.
He has also taught at theological seminaries including
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Landon has also recorded a total of thirty professional recordings of organ
music, has published five books and served as organist of several of the churches which he pastored. E-Mail: jwlandon@windstream.net.
On Sunday, Feb. 14th Dr. Landon announced that he will retire as the Pastor
of Gardenside Baptist Church effective at the end of this calendar year. His final service will be the watch night service on
December 31st. In his announcement Dr. Landon said several factors contributed to his decision including his age, 74, and
his desire to "not over stay his welcome". He plans to remain in Lexington.

 David Slinker, Minister of Music
David Slinker is a native of Central City, Kentucky and began attenting Gardenside in 2006. He holds a
Bachelors of Music Education and Master of Music degrees from Western Kentucky University.
He has received performance awards from Phi Mu Alpha and has presented programs in churches in Kentucky
and Missouri, He has also been active as an accompanist and has been a church musician for nearly 30 years.
He is a former faculty member of Southwest Baptist University
in Bolivar, Missouri where he taught piano, accompanying theory, and ear training. Before moving to Lexington,
he served as the Minister of Music and Education at Corinth Baptist Church in London, Kentucky. He also serves
as a keyboard consultant for the Kentucky Baptist Convention where he is frequently called upon to head
conferences and judge keyboard festivals. He a member of the Kentucky Baptist Men's Chorale participating in
many music tours and missions projects throughout Kentucky and abroad. Prior to coming to Gardenside, he
served as Church Pianist and Orchestra Director at Centenary United Methodist Church. David is married
to Sherry Slinker of Lexington, They have one daughter, Rachel, of London, Kentucky.

 Stephen Vedro, Director of Youth Ministries
Stephen Vedro became the Director of Youth Ministries at Gardenside
Baptist Church in June 2008. He has a Bachelors Degree in Biblical Studies from
Criswell College
in Dallas Texas. Stephen is currently working on his Master of Divinity from The
Southern Baptist Theological Seminary
in Louisville, He and his wife, Nikki, are both proud to be native Texans, but commuting was simply
out of the question. They now reside in Lexington. They have been married for three years and are now the
proud parents of a daughter, Abigail Grace Vedro, born January 10, 2009. You can reach Stephen at ext.222 or

 Debbie Faulconer, Coordinator of Children's Ministries
Debbie Faulconer serves as the Coordinator of Preschool and Children's
Ministry at Gardenside Baptist Church. Since moving into the position in August 1999, Debbie works
to coordinate all preschool programs, Sunday School classes, summer programs, and activities for children
in Kindergarten through 5th grade. Debbie is happily married to Wayne Faulconer and they are blessed
with three wonderful children; Alison, Brooks, and Lindsey. They also have two grandchildren in their
life, Kevan and Oliviah. When asked about her work at Gardenside, Debbie responded by saying,
"What a wonderful privilege to serve the Lord at Gardenside and have fun while doing it!" You

 Jamie Humlong, Church Staff Assistant
Jamie Humlong has served as the Church Staff Assistant for Gardenside
Baptist Church since 1999. Jamie attended the
University of Kentucky
where she received a Bachelors degree in Business. In addition to her administrative duties, Jamie also
assists with specific Church ministries such as the Music Ministry and Young at Heart. She is married
to David Humlong and they have two children: James and Chelsea. You may contact the Music Ministry through

 Sherry Slinker, Pianist
Sherry is a native of Lexington, Kentucky. She attended
Western Kentucky University
earning a Bachelors of Music Education degree with an emphasis in vocal and choral music. She has
taught music in public schools, given private voice lesions, and was an adjunct voice instructor at
Southwest Baptist University
in Bolivar, Missouri. Sherry is also involved in Church Ministries as well having served as the Minister
of Music at Southern Hills Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri and, most recently, as Co-Minister of
Music with her husband David at Corinth Baptist Church in London, Kentucky. Sherry and David have one
daughter, Rachel, who lives in London, Kentucky.

 James Humlong, Organist
James is a native of Lexington, Kentucky and currently attends the
University of Kentucky.
James has excelled in music programming throughout his junior high and high school careers. He has actively pursued
developing his skills with the organ and ministers to Gardenside weekly in our worship services. James also accompanies
special music programs and assists our choir and other musical groups and ensembles.
